Why have you decided to serve as an inaugural Torchbearer for the JLB?
I grew up in Jackson, Mississippi a few blocks away from a convent that became a shelter for domestic violence victims.   I can remember my parents trying to explain to me why mothers and children were moving there and I struggled to understand the problem  - at that young age, it was unimaginable to me that violence could exist in someone’s home.    The test of a community is the way it cares for its most vulnerable members.   This project will make a difference in countless lives and I am glad to be a part of it.

What/who inspires you to be a Light in our community?
Mayor William Bell. His vision, leadership and dedication have changed our City for the better.  We are all fortunate that he has devoted his career to public service.
