Sam Heide is a Principal at Wicker Park Capital Management, LLC -- a boutique real estate investment management firm.  WPCM manages private real estate investments on behalf of accredited investors and family offices.  The firm's primary focus is multi-family and retail assets in the Southeast.

Previously, Sam was Vice President of Leasing at Bayer Properties. Among other responsibilities, Sam led the leasing efforts at two of Bayer’s marquee properties in Birmingham, Alabama: the iconic 1 million-square-foot The Summit Birmingham, and The Pizitz, a transformative mixed use project that was recently redeveloped. Sam was the key player in the leasing effort at Uptown Birmingham. Sam represented the BJCC in the recently announced TopGolf transaction and will be heavily involved as the Uptown footprint continues to grow.

Sam is a board member of REV Birmingham. As part of that board, he is an executive committee member for ZYP Bikeshare which is the first public bikeshare system in Alabama, and the first in North America to offer electric pedal assist technology. He is a graduate of Leadership Birmingham and was named to the Birmingham Business Journal’s “Top 40 Under 40” in 2014.

Sam is a past president of the Board of Directors for Camp-Smile-A-Mile. He is the currently the Chair for the Board of the American Cancer Society’s Central Alabama chapter. Sam has also been a member of the executive leadership team for the Birmingham Heart Walk, and is a board member of City Action Partnership (CAP), which is a nonprofit business improvement district established in 1995 to increase safety and help improve downtown Birmingham, Alabama.

Sam holds his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University and a Masters of Science in Real Estate from Johns Hopkins University.

Why have you decided to serve as an inaugural Torchbearer for the JLB?
JLB has such a tremendous reputation and I am honored to be approached to partner with the organization. The cause that JLB has chosen to support is certain to make an enormous impact on the lives of local families.

What/who inspires you to be a Light in our community?
My Children: I feel that it is my duty to do my part to make a positive impact on the future of our community.
Past Leaders: Birmingham is so fortunate to have a long history of dedicated and passionate leaders that have led campaigns for the betterment of our community. We owe it to them to continue this mission and build on the work that they have already done.
